   Welcome

At Wellside Kindergarten it is our aim to providing the highest standard of professional care and education for children aged birth to five years. We greatly encourage the natural joy of discovery in each child and promote emotional well-being, togetherness and comfort. Our nursery offers both a homely and educational environment where we believe that learning happens through play. We have a strong emphasis on outdoor learning both in the nursery garden and local natural areas and all the experiences pave the way for the road ahead.

Caring for your child is our number one priority and in partnership with parents we will ensure that we take the time to support each individual child's personal development. Children are listened to and encouraged to take an active role in deciding what we do in the nursery, which in turn makes a real difference to the crucial development of their personal and social skills. You can expect a warm welcome from our caring, well experienced, fully qualified and long standing staff.

We are please to say we are an accredited Millie's Mark Nursery.

What is Millie's Mark? Millie's Mark is awarded as a special endorsement to childcare providers that go above and beyond these minimum requirements by having 100% of staff trained in paediatric first aid, and also ensuring that everything learned during the course is kept alive and in the forefront of practitioners’ minds so that they are confident, ready and capable.

Millie's Mark in Scotland

There are no specific requirements for the number of paediatric first aid trained staff under Scotland’s Health and Social Care Standards. However 1.24 of the standards states that 'Any treatment or intervention that I experience is safe and effective'; 3.14 states that 'I have confidence in people because they are trained, competent and skilled' and 4.14 states that 'My care and support is provided in a planned and safe way, including if there is an emergency or unexpected event'. These standards require sufficient individuals to be trained in paediatric first aid and to have the confidence to act in an emergency.

We are quietly situated only minutes from Falkirk town centre and close to all amenities. Wellside Place lies between Falkirk Town Hall and Falkirk Police Station. The nursery is within walking distance of both Grahamston and Falkirk High railway stations

We are guided by the Scottish Government’s national guidance Curriculum for Excellence, Realising the Ambition and GIRFEC.
We are registered and inspected by the Care Inspectorate and our reports can be found at www.careinspectorate.com
Our meals and snacks are prepared in line with 'Setting the Table' the national guidance for early years. Our menus are nutritionally planned, balancing food groups and we serve appropriate portion sizes to suit the needs of individual children. Your child will enjoy a rich variety of tastes and textures, with meals that offer a balance of carbohydrates, colourful vegetables, proteins, pulses and fresh fruit throughout the week..
There is a large enclosed garden to the side of the nursery creating fantastic opportunities for outdoor play. This offers a safe environment for all age groups. The garden is easily accessible from all playrooms and children have the opportunity to play in the garden all year round. In addition, the close proximity of Dollar Park and Callendar Park, local public parks, provides facilities for wider physical development. and exploration.

Our team

The friendly atmosphere in our nursery emanates from the warm and caring relationships between our nursery teams and the children in their care. Our staff are fully qualified and we are committed to fu rther personal development. We have robust safer recruitment processes and all staff are all registered with the Scottish Social Services Council and have up to date PVG checks. We pride ourselves on the fact that many of the staff at Wellside have worked with us for 15 to 30 years.

Each child is allocated a keyworker who is responsible for settling your child at nursery. The special relationship your child develops with their key person will help them feel cherished and secure – giving you peace of mind, too. The keyworker monitors each child’s progress, maintains developmental files and plans for the child’s individual needs. Keyworkers work very closely with parents from the very first contact until the child leaves to go to school, this helps to ensure that the care the child receives at Nursery is consistent with approaches used at home.

Our Vision

To provide a safe, loving, engaging,
interesting, respectful and nurturing
environment in which children can
grow and develop

We believe children have a natural
curiosity and when carefully
nurtured, blossoms into a life long
love for learn
